A word for a New Year

Present.

My goal for this year is to be in each moment. It has been written better by other people. In fact I have probably written it better, but this year, I want to stay in the now. My days seem to become stacked higher and higher, my sweet babies are growing into amazing little people, and time is ever shorter, so I want in this new year, to treasure the temporal, to stop resisting the rush of sand and embrace each crystalline moment.

But before another week passes in this new year, a few markers from 2010.

Everett is in his second year of Preschool and continues to amaze us with his problem solving and creative play. I am particularly fond of his Surf Ninja and dragon games.

Bea went from tiny baby to opinionated toddler. But she also continues to live up to her name as a "bringer of joy!" She loves to put on her "pretties" and last night insisted on wearing 4 strands of beads at once.

We put  in our first garden and loved watching it grow and eating our yummy vegetables! This year we are going bigger and more diverse.

We took a 6 week trip to NC. It was the highlight of our summer. In 2011 we are driving to Texas for Kit and Amy's wedding, I am so excited to officially have another sister!

I am blessed by the women God has surrounded me with, I went from alone to encompassed in a year.

We got a new wood stove, a new car, a new camera (twice), and re-arranged the furniture so many times that it feels like we moved to a new house.

I lost 25 lbs.

We are making the switch to local, organic, homemade food. It is a slow process but we are noticing even the small changes.

I read a few really amazing books, captured a few indelible memories, and was amazed by the Lord's provision and grace in our family.

To sum up, I am thankful for almost all of 2010 and excited by each new morning in 2011.
