It seems to be flying by

Life keeps moving and it seems more important every day to find beauty as it flashes by. Today marks the four year anniversary of my promise to choose to love Russ every day. And while it is awkward to read that string of prepositions it is important for me to acknowledge that I choose this life, this marriage, and this love. Sometimes it is as easy as writing my name and other days it is an exercise that strengthens my commitment. Thankfully, I cannot imagine my life without him. He is my match, my partner, and the father of my two amazing and wonderful children.

Speaking of my wonderful children, can you believe that Miss Beatrice will be SIX months old on Tuesday? Where does the time go? I can still remember what she felt like kicking my ribs! Every day she shows us more of her sweet personality. One of the meanings of her name is "bringer of joy" and nothing could be more apt.

She has such a ready smile! She loves to laugh and talk and is happiest when surrounded by an adoring audience.
This picture was included specifically for Nicole, who really loves babies eating their feet! And who can blame her, it is pretty darn cute. Bea, is definitely in the "putting everything into the mouth" stage. We are actually trying a slightly different transition to solid foods with her than we did with Evie. Instead of mashing everything or focusing on baby "appropriate" foods, we are letting her set the pace and lead. So if she wants tomato soup (which she LOVES) then tomato soup it is!
So I keep hoping, crossing my fingers, and praying that my adorable daughter will stop dripping, coughing, and generally being sick. I have taken her to the pediatricians' but so far all I get is the standard "it is probably viral, there is nothing to do but nurse her and let her heal over time" Thankfully, she is a remarkably good sport about the whole thing, then again, maybe she doesn't remember what it feels like to breath without congestion anymore.

"like the January sky" or "at Nicole's request"

A few days ago sweet Nicole asked for some inspirational fashion. And I laughed. And then I laughed a bit more and felt a wee bit nostalgic for that girl who used to plan elaborate photo shoots with her dress form. Because, my new normal revolves around cotton t-shirts (in pretty colors), comfy fleece (that can stand being thrown in the wash), long scarves that double as spit-up wipers and nursing shields, and jeans. Of course that is if I make it out of my pajamas! For a while it really bothered me that I seemed to being falling into a rut but then I realized, for now, I need a uniform that can take a little abuse. Because the best part of my days are about playing play-doh, crawling around on the carpet, and getting muddy, so it is okay that my closet of pretty clothes has been weeded, that my sweater dresses only come out for special occasions. However, this morning after sneeking in a shower, I decided to be a bit silly. To let my frou-frou, pretty princess out. So, because you asked Nicole. I offer a bit of "inspiration"

All in all this outfit wasn't terrible to wear all day. It was comfy and since I mostly stayed inside it was warm enough. My boots are pretty much awesome. I should try to wear them more often. And Beatrice really loved my necklace so that was an unexpected bit of fashionable utility.
